Coach Cooper comes to the Grizzlies after a long and stellar high school and college career playing both baseball and football. Matt grew up in Pleasanton and attended Amador Valley High School from 1994 thru 1998 lettering in both sports from his sophomore year thru his senior year. Matt enjoyed 1st Team All League honors both his junior and senior years.

After being heavily recruited for both baseball and football, Matt decided to attend Arizona State and play quarterback on a football scholarship. Matt graduated in 2002 with his degree in Communications. After attending one year of graduate school at ASU during his final season of football, Matt decided to come back home to the Bay Area and play baseball for Ohlone College in Fremont.

Matt played two seasons for the Ohlone Renegades where he earned All-Conference honors both years. In his second season, Matt helped lead his team to its first ever berth in the California Final Four.
