NorCal Grizzlies 13U Black Team Finishes Successful Season with Xtreme Diamond Sports World Series Crown

The 2011 13U Black team ended a very successful 2011 spring season by capturing the title to the Xtreme Diamond Sports World Series in San Diego at the end of July. The Grizzlies went 7-1 on the trip finalizing the event with a 17-5 championship victory over the Oxnard Sharks. The Grizzlies faced some dominant pitching throughout the tournament, but managed to post 64 runs over the course of 8 games while giving up only 22.

The Grizzlies were led to victory by the dominating pitching performances throughout the tournament by Tyler Peters, Ruben Mercado and Nolen Valenzuela. Other outstanding performances included AJ Contreras who caught every game and was one of the offensive leaders. Other stand out offensive performances included Junior Muniz and Jack Large with heavy contributions from Joey Whipple, Brad Pilkington, Dakota Stilson and Bradlee Beesley.

“I couldn’t ask for a better ending to a great season for these boys,” said Tom Graham, head coach of the 13U Black team. “The entire team contributed throughout the entire tournament which allowed us to win two one-run bracket games and beat some very good SoCal competition.”

Overall the Grizzlies 2011 13U Black spring squad posted a 53-18 record with 7 first place finishes, including one 14U championship.


NorCal Grizzlies 14U Black Team Captures Xtreme Diamond Sports AAA World Series Crown

The 2011 14U Black team ended its season by capturing the AAA crown in the Xtreme Diamond Sports World Series in San Diego. Although a great tournament was had by all, the offense was led by Joe Carr and Jonathan Pluth while Nick Mason led the team's pitching staff. What a way to end an exciting year of 8th grade travel ball. Good luck to all 14U players in their upcoming freshman year of high school.
