Due to popular demand at the 13U age level, the NorCal Grizzlies will be fielding two teams for the 2009 travel ball season. The original 13U team will return eight of last year’s eleven players while the second team will be comprised exclusively of first year Grizzlies. Vince Volpatti, a second year Grizzly, is looking forward to the internal competition. “I can’t wait to face each other in the final game of a tournament and give each other a run for their money,” said Volpatti.
Kirk Ekstrom, the coach of the new 13U Grizzly club, also looks forward to the internal competition. “Each player’s improvement stands to gain more than ever this year with two teams made up of twenty-two players pushing each other over the course of the nine month long season.” Tom Graham, coach of the original Grizzlies club, said, “I’m anxiously looking forward to these teams matching up against each other several times this year and expecting a few first and second place finishes from our 13U program.” Both 13U programs will work together once per week in addition to their individual team practices held on Thursdays. Stay tuned for the first tournament to take place in January, 2009. |
